There are two types of spray foam insulation: Open Cell and Closed Cell. Both materials are great insulators and air barriers, and offer many benefits to make your Festus area home more energy- efficient. To determine which material is best for your project will require an evaluation by one of our highly qualified energy consultants.
If you live in St. Louis where there are extreme seasonal temperature changes or you live in a flood prone area, closed cell is often a better choice. Closed cell spray foam acts as a vapor barrier, keeping water and moisture out of your home and the foam itself is water resistant. Open cell is a great option if you live in a milder climate, as it is moisture permeable and help provides an optimal barrier. Often, regardless of where you live, you may choose to use both types of spray foam on a single project. When it comes to insulating your home, R-value matters.
YES. Koala insulation of St. Louis experts are trained in installing spray foam and take all precautions and follow strict guidelines during the application process. Once the material has been allowed to cure properly, there will be no harmful chemicals left behind. Fun fact - Koala Insulation of St. Louis holds a certification from the American Chemistry Council for spray foam safety as well as appropriate insurance and licensure.
Spray foam should only be installed by a professional that has the proper training. The Koala Insulation spray foam material is mixed on-site in our fully self-contained rig and is sent through a hose into the stud cavity, where it hardens and creates a long-term barrier to guard against dust, noise, moisture and even rodent infestations.
Greater “racking” strength
Spray polyurethane foam has a higher racking strength, which adds structural strength and enhances overall building stability. In fact, spray foam is the only insulation material that adds structure integrity. It adheres to the cavities of the walls and in between ceiling joists making them more rigid to protect against cracking, shifting, or shaking during extreme weather conditions. NAHB Research demonstrated SPF filled walls could add from 75% to 200% racking strength to walls of OSB, plywood, light gauge metal, vinyl siding, or gypsum board.
Highly resistant during severe weather events
Not only does closed spray foam withstand the effects of high winds, but it also performs well under wet conditions. The material is water resistant, has minimal water absorption, and is classified as an acceptable flood resistant material. FEMA has published a rating system ranking building products from 1 to 5(not acceptable to highly acceptable). SPF carries a “5” rating for its outstanding water-resistant qualities.

Spray foam is effective at filling tiny cracks and gaps within walls and attic rafters. Rodents and insects such as rats, mice, cockroaches and other insects can enter through the tiniest of holes, leaving behind waste or destroying your attic storage. Koala spray foam insulation creates a durable barrier that seals all unseen entry points, making it an optimal insect and pest resistant option.
With the increasing demand for comfort and energy efficiency, spray foam is the optimal choice for your insulation needs. It can actually strengthen walls and has low vapor permeance (moisture transmission) and is ideal in rooms where sound-reduction is desired such as in home theaters or, for a light sleeper, bedrooms.

The folks from Koala did a great job! After looking at the insulation in our attic and seeing some low (and even bare) spots, we had Koala come out and give us an estimate. They took a look and gave us a number of options and explained each one thoroughly. We scheduled them to come back out and they got everything wrapped ** in a few hours. My Upstairs is Cool Again!!! The Koala Crew is very professional. They bring in their on blankets/carpets to place on your floors & steps so the don't dirty your house.
